"Ladder FAQ" is an insult

Q. How do your placement matches calculate which league you will be joining?
A. During your placement matches you play against players, and then we place you in a league. Trololololo lololo lololo trololololo....

Current ladder system is obviously broken. Certain top silver players get +11 points for winning vs certain top platinum players. Is this why Blizzard won't publish any details about the system? Are they simply hiding their bugs?

If players in silver don't get full points from playing a higher ranked player, then their skill level should be above the other players skill level. This can happen when one of the players just recently started playing and was put into a league that is above or below their current skill level or has drastically improved while playing so his current skill level is higher than what it was when he was first ranked. When the next reevaluation period is over this player will most likely be put in the appropriete league that matches his skill level closer.
Should he be getting less points for winning against players from higher leagues over a very long period of time (and a lot of games played) and this happens consistently against all players in higher leagues, then this could be something for our bug report forums - if possible with facts, how long have you been experiencing this, what players did you play against, what was their rankings, how many points did you get etc. As already mentioned, this is a beta test, and it is possible that there are bugs in the beta and it is our job with your help to identify these bugs.

Also keep in mind, that such a system works best over a long period of time. If you just started playing a week ago and maybe did about 20 matches total in the ladder system, of course the evaluation will be a lot less accurate than someone who has been playing for over a month and has over 500 games played.

I read you're saying that you need a lot of matches to get more accurate but for example the nr 2. in my league has 350 matches played, over 2k rating and he's been close to the top for several weeks now.

No, how do you know he has not been evaluated several times already and the evaluation determined that he is best fit to be playing in the league he is in right now. Being close to the top in one league, does not automatically mean you are ready for the next league already.

Yes, we are aware that it is quite clumsy to check out the opponent right now. To be sure this is only a very basic version of Battle.net that you see right now. It will improve later. :)
