There is much evidence that the StarCraft II Beta is going to be released very soon.
The Battle.net support site has added a
section (mostly rather generic, for now) for the SC2 Beta, including info on the
SC2 Beta Client Downloader.
The Beta system requirements were posted, then taken down again, but not before a few fansites got copies of them.
[Update: According to Avarius, these system requirements are not accurate, and were a placeholder that should not have gone up.] See

) They include that the Beta currently only supports Windows (sorry, Mac users), and that these requirements are not final.
A few days ago, some pictures of the SC2 team celebrating (celebrating what? Maybe the impending release of the beta?
)
were released, and on the screen behind them was SC2 with "WELCOME TO STARCRAFT II BETA" visible.

it's getting close to there, but I wouldn't start any sort of regimen to increase your beta selection chances until we see the official announcement - we've waited this long, it won't kill us to wait another month or two...that is, unless we burn ourselves out jump at shadows and hints of beta.
edit: and honestly...posting this as news is kinda jinxy if you ask me

Keeping in mind that these have been confirmed to be wrong...

I've got a feeling that we will soon (or already have, but only shadowie knows) be requested to take these down, since a few other sites have done the same. So if you REALLY care about what this says, read it to your satisfaction or copy it to a local file ASAP. Me, I copied it to my hard drive to compare to the official system requirements.

my pc is handling everything i throw at it atm, i think its just peace of mind to know whether sc2 will run or not despite educational guesses and about 5 mins of googling

I haven't been around a fansite during a beta (aside from WoW), but i'm not too sure about how the Beta Keys will work out. I'm assuming we'll be given two batches of keys, one for the Staff and one to give out to our users.
