Today Cydra gave us the sad, but not unexpected, news that StarCraft II will not be released in 2009 because work on the new Battle.net is taking longer than expected. No word on the beta date. Cydra wrote:Today we announced that StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty will not be ready for release by the end of 2009. Over the past couple of weeks, it has become clear that it will take longer than expected to prepare the new Battle.net for the launch of the game. The upgraded Battle.net is an integral part of the StarCraft II experience and will be an essential part of all of our games moving forward. This extra development time will be critical to help us realize our vision for the service. Our mission is to develop games that deliver an epic entertainment experience. As part of that commitment, we will always take as much time as needed to ensure that our games and services meet the expectations of our players and the standard for quality that we set for ourselves as developers. As we work to make Battle.net the premier online gaming destination, we’ll also continue to polish and refine StarCraft II, and we look forward to delivering a real-time strategy gaming experience worthy of the series’ legacy in the first half of 2010. We will share more details about the beta, Battle.net, and StarCraft II’s launch in the future. Keep an eye on the official website at http://www.starcraft2.com for updates, and as always, thank you for your continued enthusiasm and support for StarCraft II and all of Blizzard Entertainment’s games.

Anyone looking at Blizzard's track record since the releases of SC, WC2, and D1 wouldn't be surprised to hear this news. I'm not at all disappointed. It affirms what I knew to be the case. If the lack of Beta hadn't tipped you off, shame on you.
It also affirms Blizzard's commitment to quality. So huzzah for a fabulous BNet2.0.

Oh well.. more time to get more $ for a new PC that will run it on MAX without problems ^^

i dont care any more, as long as it going to be a sc2 and i am alive and "young" tey can take as much time as they need.
i also hope the beta will come up soon and keep on running for lots of months in order to get it more polished than ever.

Oh well, as long as It means StarCraft 2 is going to now be even better, I'm fine with it. I wish it would come out sooner though.

i know the blizzard's protocol, its expected. but i was hoping not to see this official announcement.
i'm getting pretty tired of waiting and waiting. checking on sites and recheck, hope to see some progress made by blizs.
guess its just another disappointment.

but thats not a bad think for Blizzard cause they can use that time and make the campaign mor polished balance the game better etc.

I bought one and im using it atm, its amazing and it runs crysis so greatly for a laptop i cant even believe it, ^^.
