Starcraft2.net.pl has posted an interview with Dustin Browder. The English version is below the Polish version. They discuss the possibility of moving the release date, the end of the beta, and future plans. Unfortunately, they plan to end the beta at least a couple of weeks before release to deploy hardware and prepare for the launch. They do want to keep the beta open as long as possible, though.

hmm... interesting little bit about the challenge of adding more units in the expansions. i don't see why it has to be 5 new units per race but i see what they mean. i hope that doesn't mean they're not adding any units at all. one or two per race per expansion would be just fine with me as long as they were awesome units.

Tears :) I bet they redo the graphics for the final release. Not really a redo but a buff up in sparkle. And i bet the game plays 10 x smoother then now. And now its already pretty awesome. Good interview though. Nice to know they are working on single player for swarm. Im sort of hoping that will come out same time next year.

is it just me or have the graphics slowly gotten more detailed with each patch? just like little things, like the detail in the rockets launching from banshees, etc.

I'm pretty sure they updated some animations in, like, patch 8 (the big content patch). I don't think they've been refining them in each patch, though.

I don't know what you're talking about. Does what mean it would be easier to balance a 4th faction?
Also, I doubt we'll ever see a fourth (playable in multiplayer) faction in an SC RTS. Definitely not in SC2.
And I like that. I've played WC3 a lot, and a few other RTSs, and when you get to 4 or more playable factions, they tend to copy each other a lot. I like how distinct SC's races are. It's just enough to give you some choices and make for plenty of matchups, but still few enough to all be rather distinct yet still balanced.

i remember something about the xel'naga maybe being in the campaign at some point but that there was no way they'd be in the multiplayer.

lol what happens, happens, the story of starcraft one was really good, I hope it's a similar experience (in quality) in SC2, and it had better be, buying a game just for multiplayer addon's is vaguely annoying.
